A look at how worker coops grapple with the challenge of having worker run boards. Specifically, what are some challenges of a. having workers who most likely have little experience running businesses leading those who are running the business and b. the inherent challenges of being your bosses' boss. In this workshop, we will talk about how different co-ops, from Cooperative Home Care Associates to Equal Exchange, view the role of the board, the ways in which boards can support the leadership of their organizations and the ways in which boards have real impact on the organization. Finally, we will discuss real ways in which organizations can strengthen the relationships between board and management, and why those strengthened bonds have real impact on the operational and financial functioning of your co-op.
