Like the sands of time through the hourglass, do you feel your life force slipping away in meetings? Throw away the hourglass! (Also, they have clocks now - get one of those.) This session aims to help you use meetings to draw out everyone’s talents, energies and wisdom. Meetings have different structures for different processes, and different rules for different purposes. A production meeting is not a brainstorming meeting is not a general membership meeting. We’ll touch base with the old standards (agenda, facilitation, Roberts Rules vs consensus process) and look at what everyone needs to make a meeting effective. But mostly we’ll explore new strategies for meetings, and test some of them ourselves in the workshop. Learn from some of the meeting models used by software engineers and popular educators, and dig into research by organizational psychologists and people who think about how to design group creative processes.
