All tours take place on Friday, June 22, and are intended to help conference participants get a better understanding of and connection to the Boston local landscape from a grassroots perspective.
Equal Exchange Main Headquarters Tour
TIME: 9:45 – 3:30 (total 2 hrs travel time)
COST PER PERSON: $15 (includes lunch)
TRANSPORTATION: EE van(s)
Take a tour of your favorite fair trade cooperative coffee/tea/chocolate importer, roaster and distributor. You'll see Equal Exchange's beautiful facility in West Bridgewater, MA, including the roasting, quality control, and packaging areas. Taste coffees and chocolates, hear about Equal Exchange's relationships with their producers, their evolving democratic governance model and how they operate on a day to day basis as a principled, cooperative-focused international business. Equal Exchange will host for lunch.
Participation is limited to 15 people.
Boston Cooperatives & Friends Tour
TIME: 9am – 12pm & 2pm - 5pm
COST PER PERSON: $10
TRANSPORTATION: walking/use the T
Check out the Boston area's alternative, socially responsible and cooperative businesses, with a stop and conversation/history at each of these businesses.
On the tour: Harvest Cooperative in Cambridge, Red Sun Press in Jamaica Plain, Equal Exchange Café in Boston, City Feed (morning only) in Jamaica Plain, and Broadway Bikes (afternoon only) in Cambridge.
Participation is limited to 10 people each session.
