- While waiting on the street corner for a cleaning job, Luz Maria Arias organized to keep the streets clean, forge relationships with the police and area businesses, and teach her comrades about their rights as workers and the laws that protect them. In 2010, Luz Maria played a critical role in the creation of Apple Eco-Friendly Cleaning LLC, a worker-owned cooperative that offers environmentally friendly cleaning services. Because of her commitment to bring justice and human dignity in the workplace place, she was recently elected as the founding Board Member of Worker’s Justice Project.
