Organization
Cooperative Fund of New England (CFNE)
Interests
The Cooperative Fund of New England (CFNE) was founded in 1975 and has been lending to cooperatives of all kinds since then. It is a community development loan fund that is a bridge between socially responsible investors and cooperatives, community-oriented non-profits, and worker-owned businesses in New England (and parts of New York). CFNE advances community-based, cooperative, and democratically owned or managed enterprises with preference to those that serve low income communities through the provision of prompt financial assistance at reasonable rates; the provision of an investment op¬portunity that promotes socially responsible enterprise; and the development of a regional reservoir of business skills with which to assist and advise the above groups. In 35 years CFNE has made more than 554 loans to community based groups, creating and/or retaining jobs and housing units.
